Amazon Blue and White Dresses

It’s my birthday! And I really love this dress!

Such a weird start to 28 - we were getting ready for church this morning and felt an actual earthquake! Like wait, what?? So crazy!

Anywho, I’ve been holding off on this particular post until today because I wanted to take pics of this dress on a day when I was actully going to wear it… I mean I guess I could have worn it around the apartment lol, but knowing we’d be going to church on my birthday (outdoor service, I’m still uneasy on crowds) I decided today would be a great reason to dress up!

In recent years, blue has definitely become my favorite color. My parents really like blue so growing up there were tons of blue things around the house and I always felt like it was a little overkill… Like there are other colors out there… But now I actually find myself doing the same thing. It’s calming, elegant, comforting and classy. And I like the way the color blue looks against my fair skin and dark hair! So I find myself gravitating toward it more and more.

Beyond that, I’ve fully embraced this “grandmillennial” style! It’s classy and vintage and I love it. If you’re unfamiliar with grandmillennial style, it’s a lot of blue and white chintz and ginger jars, hydrangeas, toile, needlepoint, rattan and antique dark wood furniture. And it trickles over into classic, preppy style for apparel as well.

Here are some of the lovely blue and white dresses I’m eyeing on Amazon:

This dress (below) in particular is on my short list and as soon as it goes down in price again, I want to snatch it up! The sizing on this dress is superrrr weird, so I recommend reading the reviews and description advice and ordering a few different sizes to return the ones that don’t fit. I ordered it in 3 sizes and ended up fitting in the largest of the 3 I selected, only to discover it had a giant hole in the sheery fabric, right in the front. So I returned it for a refund and planned to just reorder later (this was right in the midst of moving so I didn’t want to order a replacement at the moment only to have it end up in the wrong state) but then the price almost doubled on my particular size and not other sizes?! So I’ve been monitoring that… Not cool. But on the subject of sizes, I ordered the sizes “EU L (US 10)” “EU XL (US 12-14)” and “EU XXL (US 16)” and to help you have a better understanding, I typicaly range in US size 8-10 in reguar sizes and 10-12 in US petite sizes… So not a “US 16” … hopefully that helps you better select your size. And I might also add that the EU XXL (US 16) fit best in the chest (I’m a 34DD) but still showed a little cleavage and was also too wide in the shoulders but I felt it wasn’t terribly noticable the shoulder width prob due to the patterened sheery fabric and loose sleeves. I’m 5’1 and it was perfect in length with 3-4” heels.

I felt so pretty in this maxi and I think that’s why I am so determined to get it again, but just not at the current price lol.

And as for the dress I’m wearing in the photo, I loved the way the 10P fit everywhere except my chest. So I went with the 12P and it’s a little large in some places but it best fits my chest so I went with it. I love the ribbon belt and the hidden buttons. Plus it has POCKETS! It feels ultra feminine and classic. Lots of housewife vibes. If I wasn’t making messes in the kitchen and truthfully everywhere, I would probably lean into this “house dress” trend. And now that I type that, maybe I should? I mean that was the purpose of aprons in the first place? And goodness I have lots of aprons! I digress… Anyway, this dress print is also available in a color called “cantaloupe” and sometimes a different print in the same silhouette will show up on that listing. It seems these just vary. I think it would be super cute with a little cardigan in spring. Or add a fascinator to wear it for Derby (which happens to be in a few weeks). Side note about price: I paid around $30-$40 for this dress when I purchased it in early July, however it now lists for much higher (again some sizes list for lower prices, it all varies and seems super dumb to me) but just an FYI - if you don’t like the price but really like the dress, just keep checking back.

P.S. Exciting news - this adorable summer rattan purse is only $9.99 right now!! I’ve also linked my earrings. Sorry, apparently the wedges are already sold out.
