Four Years in Business
Fours years ago today, Grace & Grandeur launched its Etsy shop and therefore officially began this journey that I really thought would be nothing more than a holiday season side-hustle. And somehow it’s my full-time job now??
I started the business after TWO YEARS of sitting on the idea. With 2020 came a lot of down time and I really took that opportunity to work on the blog. Through blogging and connecting with lots of gals with similar interests and sense of style, I decided to give this idea of a bow business a try and maybe make a little cash during the holidays. The business began with velvet bows that were very much a niche accessory for classic preppy girls and a lot of my grandmillennial niche blogging buddies. I actually had this marketing plan of sending some of the bows out to blogger friends once I got the business up and running and ironed out the flow of processing orders. But before we could even reach that point, I had more than a dozen creator friends buying up bows and sharing about them on their platforms! So very grateful for the crazy path God has me on because 2020 and all of its twists and turns continue to be a big part of my story and the connections made back then continue to be an integral part of G&G’s success.
As a way of simply keeping track of each style of bow I created, I decided the best way to “organize” was to name them. Crafting the story of the brand, I leaned into my Nannah’s genealogy hobby and referenced her books on some of my great-grandmothers’ lives to find names. To this day, I still name the bows after women among my family tree. It has been a special way of tipping my hat to the lineage of strong ladies who came before me, each supporting their families with their unique God-given talents and a vast number of them being entrepreneurs in some form or fashion.
I’m so grateful for the help of Emily, Madison, Morgan, Sarina, Rachael, Ali, and Christina, in helping in different capacities this year! And of course to my husband Darrell, and our boys.
Heading into year five, I am most looking forward to the new leaf we’ve turned with this rebrand. I can’t thank Sarah Ann Design enough for her stunning work and seeing my heart for the business in her new look for G&G. We’re in a new season. Both for me personally, far from who I was in 2020, and the business, who has matured and found a sweet spot for Elevated Everyday Style. I can’t wait to share more with you in the coming days about all that comes with our rebrand. Stay tuned!
