Adorable Tops for Summer Vacation

We’re 10 days out from the official first day of summer, friends!! I purged so much before moving and now that the seasons are changing / we’re getting closer to places opening back up, I realized I have plenty of t-shirts and camisole type blouses but not many casual-to-casually-dressy tops. Striped Peplum Tee

First off, the top I’m wearing for this post’s photo: the Lotus Striped Peplum Tee. When the shirts first arrived and I tried them on, I liked this shirt but I was kind of on the fence. After wearing it today, I LOVE IT! So glad I didn’t return it. It’s lightweight, it’s not clingy or fitted (read: it makes me feel cute and confident knowing it’s not tight fitting around my mid section) and it’s perfect to wear for all sorts of occasions! When shopping online, I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about the cut of the sleeves and how it would make my arms and width look but I think it’s cute! I’m wearing this top today with a pair of khaki shorts but it would also look super cute with dark jeans and sneakers or denim shorts! Click the image to shop this top!

Ruffle Sleeve Tee

Okay, so this might be more of a fall shirt, I’m not sure, I bought it on Final Sale because it was under $10?! Too good to pass up. It is ADORABLE! I love the little feminine detail in the ruffles and it’s pretty lightweight. The boatneck is chic and it’s technically 3/4 sleeves but I’m short so the sleeves are a bit longer on me. Striped Flutter Statement Tee

Okay this is the perfect easy going cute top!! First off, it is super comfy, but secondly, it has just enough detail to look put together and adorable for all sorts of summer fun! I would normally be worried about the sleeves hitting where they do because short sleeves can sometimes hit me at a weird spot and make me look wider. But the sleeves on this top are great because they’re angled and the V neck also helps! It is a little short and the front middle section seems to come up a little bit higher, my assumption is that maybe it is intended to be worn with high waisted pants? Seeing as I am short, I’m fine with it but if you’re taller and don’t like showing off that part of your pants, that would be something to consider. Striped Sweater Tee

I’m usually not drawn to short sleeve sweaters but after the reading the reviews on this one, I decided to give it a try. It is actually really cute and truly as thin as everyone said it was in the reviews!! I like the periwinkle-ish blue and I’m a big fan of stripes! Click the image to shop this top.

Lace Trim Tulip Back Tank Top

Ahh, tulip back tops!! A cute detail that takes a simple top and makes it fancier. And seriously, what’s better than a tank top with a fun back that DOESN’T require a strapless bra?? It’s the perfect easy going shirt to throw on a statement necklace with and head to a cookout or a vacation dinner! This fun top is also available in white!

SHIRTS THAT DIDN’T WORK

Textured Split Neck Blouse

Gosh, I wanted to love this shirt so bad. It’s super cute and would go great with white jeans, but the medium was too wide in the shoulders for me. It just did nothing for my figure at all. I think if I had maybe ordered in a petite size it would have worked. It’s always such a fine balance between clothes fitting my chest and not ill fitting everywhere else because I have a small frame (just a little chunky otherwise haha). I’m sure everyone has kind of a weird way of knowing what will work for them and I’m definitely that way everywhere but for the most part I feel like I’ve determined how to purchase the right size at LOFT (i.e. when to shop from the petites section vs regular section.) While it is long sleeved, it is a great lightweight long sleeve top for summer nights!

Mixed Media Peplum Top

I was a bit concerned this would be too thin when I ordered it, and I was right… Just a little too see-through. I also just wasn’t crazy about the fabric for the ruffle/peplum bottom. I loved the color and wish it wasn’t so see-through! If you’re someone who doesn’t mind wearing a cami under shirts in the summer, it would be totally fine, I just rather not layer clothes this time of year. Embroidered Tie Back Peplum Shell

So I’ve actually ordered this one, it just hasn’t come in yet so I’m not able to say if I like it yet but it is so darn cute online! I can’t wait to try it on! It has an adorable tie back and I’m a sucker for peplum style since it is super flattering! I hope I love it when it arrives because I keep thinking of so many cute outfits to make with this!
