Beach Bound Outfit
Ahh we’re going on vacation! Not only am I excited for the beach but I’m also ECSTATIC to see human beings we know!! We are pumped to be mini-vacationing with a couple of family members and some dear friends! In order to not squish my hat in a suitcase (even though I know it is advertised as “packable”), I decided to plan my outfit around it instead!! Why not? There are no rules for vacation. I can embrace my inner grand millennial and wear a cardigan and sleeveless button down if I want to!
I’m a sucker for a good fitting sleeveless white button down. This one isn’t completely perfect in the chest area but I’m making it work. I think maybe a different bra might help. There are way more expensive versions from other retailers that have the secret buttons that help keep it from gaping and bubbling but I’m not in the market for that currently. Maybe one day. I have kind of a difficult time finding the right fit in tops like these because they either fit my narrow shoulders and are too tight in the chest or they fit my chest and swallow me in the shoulders. My favorite sleeveless button down is from Ann Taylor and it wasn’t cheap but it has a little stretch to the material and it has great shape to it that is very flattering but it is a little too small now. This top is from Lands End and it an excellent quality fabric. This is my first time wearing it so that’s about all I have to go on for now but I’ll keep y’all posted. You can truly never go wrong with a classic top like this because the sleeveless nature of it makes it the perfect layering option year-round. Plus collars just always make you look more put together in my opinion!
These blue oxford shorts are from J. Crew Factory. I just love their clothes!! I didn’t shop there much until last year and I really don’t know why. If you time your purchases right, the prices are really reasonable. Plus their clothes tend to be more classic pieces.
The navy cardigan from LOFT is lightweight and a little long in the sleeves, but if I had gone with a petite size I would’ve felt like it was too clingy so it’s a one or the other deal much like the button down. I just roll the sleeves up a bit. It’s hard to even tell they’re rolled most of the time. I wanted to wear a cardigan today because airports and planes are sometimes chilly and this would give me sleeves! It also helps as a back up for covering my chest should the shirt’s gaping button situation not stay in place. Lol!
And now to talk about THIS HAT!! If you know me well, you know I love hats and I actually have this same hat with an off-white bow! I love that hat so much that I had to get the same one with the navy ribbon. It’s just timeless. I’m a sucker for bows and navy is very classy. While it’s not exactly an everyday kind of hat, it is still versatile and can be dressed up or down. Perfect for travel!
This outfit just really makes me feel like either Sally Albright in When Harry Met Sally (possibly my all time favorite movie, definitely in my top 3) when Harry and Sally drive from Chicago to NYC. I am pretty positive I’ve seen my mom wearing an identical outfit in photos from 30 years ago lol. It’s funny how styles come back around! It also feels very “grand millennial” which I love haha!
The belt is old and I have no clue where it is from, unfortunately. I’ve linked my earrings, watch band, backpack and shoes in the Shop This Post section!
