The Container Store Haul

Yes, I know this is just a picture of a storefront, but goodness aren’t the trees here extra pretty?? The Carolinas are so lovely! We went on a little adventure up to Charlotte earlier this week to finally use a Container Store gift card we received as a wedding gift. Darrell had visited this magical retailer at a California location not long ago and I love perusing their website but this week was my first time visiting the store! Today, I’m sharing our first “haul” from The Container Store! We already having a growing wish list of other organizational goodies we found that day!

I have so many ideas for better storage and organization now that we’re in a more spacious apartment and I can’t wait to share how they turn out on the blog. Up first, I’m trying to focus on the kitchen, and that’s one of the main reasons we went this week. I’m inspired by The Home Edit pantry organization and while I haven’t read the book, only kind of skimmed it, I feel like their inspiring pantry pics are all over Pinterest and Instagram. I think I caught the organization bug in NYC because it was such a challenge in our “shoebox” and now I just want everything to have a simplified, clean, pretty “home.”

If you’re in a similar boat, let me just say that while The Container Store has amazing items, you can certainly find things at a number of other places, possibly at a more affordable price, although I felt most things we found were reasonable. We did opt for the “higher quality” food canisters just knowing that it is an investment and unlike other plastic food containers that we cycle through, these would be something we’d expect to use for several years. So while that was a bit of hard pill to swallow with upfront expense, it definitely helped having a gift card. That being said - register for items here if you’re a bride to be, or if you’re not sure what you want/need just yet, ask for the gift card!! And if you’re trying to find a good gift for a housewarming gift or bride-to-be, get them a gift card for The Container Store! They will be SO GLAD you did!

I looked at buying some items online a number of times while we were in NYC because we couldn’t go to the store and look around but I held off because Darrell kept telling me how much I would love this store and I just wanted to hold onto the gift card until I could experience it. Maybe that doesn’t matter to you but I was so excited to explore every aisle, seeing the items in person, and then carefully make decisions on what I wanted the most to use the gift card wisely!

So what did we buy? Well we definitely grabbed a few items for kitchen organization, like an 8-piece set of canisters and some additional sizes to supplement. While we could definitely make use of more, this was a good number to start with. We also loved this cutting board with the little removable, collapsible colander. It seems we can never have enough cutting boards. Anyone relate? We picked up this handy container for cream cheese, while not necessary, I liked it better than using plastic baggies each time, seems like less waste. It also resembles the container made to put a bar of soap in when traveling? Lol… I wonder if they’re the same size? I digress. Anyway, I found this clear bin with handles in the bathroom section although they also have many similar “kitchen” containers almost identical to these in different sizes. I wanted this particular size so I grabbed it from the bathroom section. But this is a good time to also note that many of their kitchen bins like this are made for use in the fridge and freezer. Fridge organization sounds like some next-level fun for my organization obsession haha!!

Check out the items we purchased below. You’ll see we also found a two-pack of non-slip velvet tie / belt hangers for the closet!

In case anyone is curious, I've linked some of the other options for clear bins below! There are more options on their website, lazy susan variations and more!
