Wedding Decor Tips and Inspo
More from the bride diary! This time I’m dishing the details on some of my favorite decor items/ideas! And even better news? I’m selling a LOT of it over on a Facebook page shared with my sister… Yes, she’s sharing tons of her wedding decor too! If you’re a bride, a venue, event planner or family of a bride, you should seriously check out our deals! A lot of my decor still has tags on it and went completely unused due to the fact our wedding was a much smaller scale than originally planned. All items for sale must be picked up in Berea, Kentucky and paid for with CASH!
Floral Arrangements
Well I thought DIY’ing our floral arrangements would cut down on the cost but I really don’t think it did. It was super expensive, even buying everything during half-off floral sales. I did, however, thoroughly enjoyed working on the large centerpieces with my sweet friend and bridesmaid Courtney since we love to craft together. The two nights before our wedding, she and my sister’s amazing mother-in-law made additional floral arrangements, a throw bouquet and more. Since we needed far less than anticipated, I have a TON of extra flowers, MANY that weren’t touched and still have tags on them. You can find them on the Facebook page!
On the subject of the floral arrangements, our large centerpieces are actually sitting in serving bowls I found at Target!! Lol! They were close enough to the look I was going for without costing an arm and a leg so I bought them! They’re also super cute for like kitchen purposes haha, but I’ve listed the large centerpieces, small centerpieces, throw bouquet and additional stems on the page if anyone is looking for cute faux florals! You can find the gold serving bowls / what I turned into vases here. I had hoped to also add in some oranges (yes the fruit) to a few of the major centerpieces but I wasn’t able to find the exact look I was going for. I have posted the oranges that went unused on the page as well!!
Neon Sign + Boxwood Wall
Our custom neon sign is one of the coolest design aspects of our decor! I am so glad we ordered it!! Additionally, I loved the boxwood wall trend and I was so happy we were able to DIY it thanks to my brother-in-law and brother!! This combo was such a big part of our decor that I wrote an entire blog post about it! (Note for those looking for more on this part of our decor: I have a box plus extra of some of the boxwood wall pieces that we don’t need after hanging it on the wall in our apartment and while I didn’t include it in the Facebook page wedding decor purge, I am interested in selling it, so let me know if that’s something you’d like to buy!
Clear Acrylic Signage + Table Numbers
I love how modern and elegant this acrylic sign trend is at weddings! I decided to do DIY wedding signage in order to keep costs low and stick to the wedding “branding” I had curated. My awesome uncle has a shop where he has access to materials like the thin plexiglass I used to make our signs and he sold me a large piece which he then cut down to make a few 2ft x 3ft signs, 4” x 6” table numbers, along with a few other sizes. I used my Cricut Maker to cut the vinyl words and then made a grid using blue painters tape and a tape measure to align the text with precision. Interested in a How To Video? Let me know in the comments or shoot me a message and if there’s enough interest, I’ll put something together! One of our signs, all of our table numbers and an “In Loving Memory” plaque can all be found on the Facebook Page!
Candles, Candles, and More Candles
So umm, candles are EXPENSIVE y’all! I was kind of blown away (punny) with the price tag on very basic candles. I bought probably a third of mine on Facebook and then supplemented with Dollar Tree and Hobby Lobby finds. I bought TONS of 7” and 9” tall cylinder glass vases to hold these candles. Note to the brides / future brides out there: A lot of the vases you see at Michael’s and Hobby Lobby (at least clear glass basic shapes) are available at Dollar Tree for MUCH less. More specifically, you can order candles, vases and more in bulk on the Dollar Tree website. Darrell isn’t a fan of candles, however I have always dreamed of having gazillions of candles for a wedding and he graciously embraced my request. Buy our gently used (and some unused) candles and vases on the Facebook page.
“Vintage” Colored Glass Goblets
I’ll start off by saying, I am not selling my goblets but I have linked to where you can find them further down in this section of the post.
So these weren’t truly vintage, but rather vintage inspired… I searched high and low for the exact kind of goblet. I think the “look” is called a vintage colored press glass wine goblet, but I’m not antique expert so don’t quote me on that, those are the terms I found most helpful in pointing me in the right direction. At one point, I tried researching event rental places in Central KY that offered such goblets but they either had the wrong color options or didn’t have them at all. It’s become a more common trend now and I think more local rental places have started carrying them now so you might have better luck than me! (Local as in Kentucky) My bridesmaids helped me find these lovely glasses for roughly $20 / set of 4! I bought only enough to furnish our head table (bridal party + bride & groom) since purchasing enough for the full guest list didn’t fit our budget although we actually ended up having enough for every adult guest at our intimate wedding to have one at their place setting which made my heart happy! They’re also available in other colors!!
