Dinner at The Kentucky Castle

Darrell and I have a shared list on an organization app we both use where we can add date night ideas or things we want to do as a couple. One of the things on our list for months had been dinner at The Kentucky Castle.

If you’ve ever driven toward the Bluegrass Parkway from Lexington, you’ve passed the iconic Kentucky Castle. It is beautiful and a bit mysterious, as until recent years, there wasn’t really an open invitation to the public to check it out or a reason to visit it frequently. But in recent years, ownership has made it quite the attraction with a restaurant, concerts and events happening regularly.

I saw online that an up and coming country singer I’d been hoping to see live would be at the castle so we made reservations to eat at the restaurant before the concert. It was such a pleasant evening!

I ordered the Warm Brussels Sprouts Salad and Darrell had the Pork. I didn’t get to try Darrell’s meal only because he devoured it - so clearly it was amazing. My salad was phenomenal! My only complaint was that it wasn’t enough food. So I ordered the soup of the day after my salad was consumed pretty quickly. The soup of the day (at the time) was a butternut squash bisque. It was an excellent choice for a winter night.

The menu features a refined selection of entrees, appetizers, soups and salads made with a significant amount of Kentucky Proud goods. Thankfully, the menu was clearly labeled and I only had to ask about the soup. Darrell also asked about his food allergies and the staff was extremely helpful and understanding.

You’ll definitely want to make reservations ahead of time. Check out their website to find out more about the restaurant, hotel, events and concerts!
