Snack boards!! (I call this a “snack” board and not a charcuterie board or cheese board because well, there’s only one type of cheese and zero meat haha). Snack/cheese/charcuterie boards are such a fun and easy way to elevate a night in, especially a cozy Valentine’s date at home! This board is gluten free with the exception of the wheat crackers.
A Chill Valentine’s Day In
We had a really sweet Valentine’s celebration staying home this year! We technically “went out” to pick up treats for this board, Domino’s pizza and a couple of McD’s Coca-Colas… y’all know how we roll! But then it was home for the night! It’s been so rainy and actually a bit chilly here, so it was the best kind of day to cuddle up on the couch. If you haven’t watched the movie I Still Believe about Jeremy Camp’s first love, all I will say is that A) you should, and B) don’t forget to grab the tissues! Such a touching movie.
What to Include on a Valentine’s Snack Board
I like to keep it simple and on theme if possible. Here’s a round up of what I used to complete this sweet grazing board:
Strawberries
Raspberries
Fruit Dip (see details below)
Great Value Reduced Fat Thin Wheats *NOT GLUTEN FREE
Notes: The Thin Wheats were for my husband because he’s allergic to nuts. As a reminder, always read labeling before you purchase new foods if you’re gluten intolerant or allergic to lots of foods!
Simple Fruit Dip
I had the last minute idea to add some fruit dip (which, if you look closely, you’ll notice is in an old measuring cup that no longer has a handle lol!) My hubby helped out by mixing together the following ingredients we happened to have on hand:
4 ounces of marshmallow cream
4 ounces of light cream cheese
2 tablespoons of powdered sugar
Simply beat together with a hand mixer and scoop into a tiny dish to serve with your choice of fruit. This was more than enough for the two of us!
How to Create a Snack Board
The best part about cheese boards, charcuterie boards, snack boards, grazing boards, whatever name you want to give them, is that while there are certainly foods that pair really well together, there aren’t rules! So as long as you’re curating a board of things YOU find scrumptious, you’re rocking this! Whatever you do, have fun with it!
I like to mix sweet and savory. This board leaned more to the sweet side, mainly because it’s Valentine’s Day and that’s what we wanted!!
