What I'm Currently Reading

Wow. June 30th. We have made it a full 6 months, or half way, through 2020. Wild times. I set a goal back in January to read 30 books this year. Last year was the first year I made such a reading goal, hoping to finish 12 books. I think I ended 2019 with 24 books read, beating my goal twice over unexpectedly! While that was crazy exciting, I know me and I know 48 books over the course of 2020 isn’t super realistic but 30 sounded reasonable. Given the nature of 2020 thus far, I think it’s reasonable that I’m not quite on track with this year’s reading goal. But that doesn’t mean I’m not going to try anyway! So far, I have read 4/30 and started like 3 or 4 more than I just haven’t been able to finish either due to all of life’s distractions in this season or just lack of interest in some of the books.

In the spring, I began reading The Jetsetters by Amanda Eyre Ward, a story of a family that’s grown apart and then is forced to come together again when their mother wins an all-expense paid family trip and convinces each of them to join her. At first, it was a fun, light read, but I don’t know, it just kinda moved to the back burner and I haven’t come back around to it just yet. I think I will still finish it - it wasn’t a terrible book, I just didn’t want to take a hard back book on vacation so I found something else to read.

So what is it? Well, I am reading a book called Beach Read lol. I’m probably 75% done with the book and I am really enjoying it! It’s written by Emily Henry, an author I only recently learned is in the Cincinnati area. So that’s cool. It’s about an author in her late 20s who has a run in with a rival and how their summer plays out after both experiencing writers block. It might not sound like a page turner, but it is! It’s full of life’s puzzles when it comes to love and family. Rarely do I start a book on a plane and read much in that initial setting but I flew through 8 chapters upon first cracking open the book! I’m anxious to see how it ends because I feel like it’s pretty up in the air at this point but I like the thrill of a good book haha.

The front cover intrigued me because it had a quote from Josie Silver, the author of One Day in December (a book I LOVED when I read it last year), praising the book.

Also LOL at the title! A great Beach Read, indeed! Alright, I’m gonna read a few more pages before I call it a night, haha! :)

Have you read this book? Any other summer fun book recs?
