I’m sure for the majority of my readers / followers, this series is a little off from what you’re more interested in (food, fashion, etc.) but for anyone going through this same season, I hope it is insightful. Yes, we are wrapping up the moving tips series tonight with this final post… A reflection on the learning experience of moving twice in seven months, haha. Including but not limited to: my review of the two companies utilized in making said moves.

This afternoon we visited with our extended family here in Rock Hill. We are SO EXCITED to have family in town! It was a blast having lunch together and later checking out a local ice cream shop. P W’s Gourmet Ice Cream is a classic walk-up ice cream stand with an extensive ice cream menu including shakes, concretes, sundaes and cones.

One of the roles I took on in both of our cross-country moves was to find the best moving company that fit our needs, budget, and concerns. While moving across the country twice in one year does not advance us to expert level (yet), we sure learned a lot in our process for selecting a moving company for New York and again for South Carolina. As you begin your process for selecting a moving company for your cross-country move, take a moment to jot down some important questions to ask and some key considerations unique to your move. Today, I want to share with you some of the important questions and areas that mattered to us for both of our moves.

If you’re preparing for a major move or considering a job in a different state, you’re likely overwhelmed at what all needs to be done. And while you can Google tips and ask friends for advice, unless someone is in the middle of it, they rarely remember the juicy helpful advice that you need to hear the most. So that’s exactly why I spent hours trying to organize my thoughts and take notes from my husband’s perspective throughout this process to gather what all we’ve learned having done this crazy move-across-the-country thing twice in seven months! While I heavily debated breaking down today’s super long post into three separate days of content, I think it makes the most sense for those who need it as one singular, lengthy read. And don’t fret, I have more moving-related advice blog posts coming your way soon, I just wanted to make sure today’s was as comprehensive as I can get regarding my advice for “getting ready” for a big move.
Read MoreNew series alert! I am compiling pages of notes (with lots of help from Darrell) about moving… basically what I would tell my sister if she called me up and wanted to know everything we’ve learned by moving twice in one year! 😅 Today, I want to start from a bird’s eye view: what to consider as you enter the planning process for a big move.

The photo above was snapped only moments before the movers arrived today… so I’m now surrounded by mountains of cardboard boxes BUT I’m typing this post from the comfort of our couch!!
Read MoreWe are loving the balcony life!! It is so nice to have a little area of our own to enjoy the outdoors. That’s one thing we wished we had in NYC and it was a definite perk in picking this apartment. Darrell picked up dinner from a local eatery, Southern Salads and Sandwich Company. This was our first time checking out their restaurant and one that I think we will definitely order from again soon!
Read MoreHello, Rock Hill! It’s day 842 of the move in process (or so it feels!) and today we get the keys to our new apartment!! Still no word on when the moving truck will arrive but we have lots to unload today. Plus, the internet gets set up this afternoon. So all around, going to be a busy day.
Read MoreHave you had ice cream today?? We made it to South Carolina last night and have been chilling in a hotel until we can get into the new apartment. Tonight, we ate dinner in the car (we picked up some to-go food from a local restaurant) and then hopped across town to enjoy blizzards from Dairy Queen. Penny got in on the excitement with a pup cup! (This post in kind of a hodge podge of topics including an update on where we are at in the moving process!)
